The university of Oxford is one of the most prestigious university in the world. Built in the XI century, it was the first university in the English-speaking world and up to now it has remained at the forefront of centres of learning, teaching and researching.

The university is organized into thirty-eight colleges, forming a core element of the university, to which they are related in a federal system. Besides, it is further organized into four academic divisions: Humanities; Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences; Medical Sciences; Social Sciences.

In addition, a university year at Oxford runs from October to June and it is divided into three eight-week terms, Michaelmas , Hilary and Trinity .

Then, there are some interesting roles of the university that can help students to manage to graduate. Now I will say some of them: determining the content of the courses within which college teaching takes place; organizing lectures and seminars.

What's more, colleges are very important for students: they represent the focus of academic life, where you will attend weekly meetings for most of your time in Oxford. It will also provide you with accommodation and food at reasonable prices, as well as being the centre for your social life.

Finally, these are the comments of two Oxford students:

"The collegiate system is exactly what I expected, lots of students all living together, with the JCR acting to support students and organize parties and social events."

"I chose to study at Oxford firstly because I wanted to study at the highest level and stretch my mind; I felt that the Oxford tutorial system was the best environment to achieve this. Secondly because the collegiate system seemed to offer a friendlier atmosphere than a large campus."
