In the first chapter of the novel "Mrs Dalloway", Virginia Woolf introduces the main character, Clarissa Dalloway, and then a secondary character, Peter Walsh. The writer presents him reporting Clarissa's thoughts and memories: she remembers when she was eighteen and lived in Bourton with him, she remembers his eyes, his smile, his actions and his behavior. The intelligent reader can understand that Clarissa and Peter were probably lovers. Then, Clarissa says that Peter is in India at the moment and they are in contact, so they are still friends. The reader can understand Clarissa is very interested on him because she remembers everything about him. From the little dialogue they had when they were young it can be understand that they are both very ironic and they have a strong personality.
