Relationship between Mrs Dalloway and P. Walsh

Reading the first chapter of Virginia Woolf’ novel, Mrs Dalloway, the reader can suppose the relationship between the main character, Clarissa Dalloway and Peter Walsh: they are certainly friends because they sent letters each others during their youth. The intelligent reader can think that at that time they were probably lovers because they had breakfast in terrace, anyway their love story is finished because Clarissa has another husband. There are some interesting elements about Clarissa’s consideration about Peter: for example she remembers only superficial things about him, as his funny sentences and the fact that Peter’s letters are not so beautiful as they appeared some years before. Therefore it’s likely they have the same age and they have a similar personality because they are both ironic people.
