The title If Thou Must Love Me, Let Be It For Nought before reading the sonnet creates the love she feels to him. From the title the reader can understand the sonnet by ElizabethB.Browning is part of a collection because the title bears the same firstline.

Sheinvites him (the poetess uses the imperative) to love her not ONLY (key word, it stay in the middle of the second line.) for her ecstatic qualities, but only
for the like to love (inner qualities). The invitation is built on the semantic field the approach between a woman and a man (smile, look, way of speaking).

The second quatrain the ma gives his answer. He want to change, he wants to love she for her values, her soul. The use of open sounds vowel creates a sense of distance between the speaking voices: the same distance between heartily and heavenly things. This contrast inthe main problem
of courteous love.

3. IN THE CONNOTATIVE ANALYSIS YOU SHOULD INTERPRET THE LINGUISTIC DEVICES CHOSEN BY THE POET, for example figures of speech (metaphors, assonances, alliterations etc.) and verb choice.
In the text the speaking voice invites her lover to love her just for love. An intelligent reader can notice that the speaking voice underlines the mutual aspect of love thanks to many devices: indeed there is the repetition of the words "love" and "change" and it implies that the theme of the poem is mutual love.
Analysing the phonological level the reader can notice that the rhyme scheme is ABBA ABBA CDCD CD: it makes the poem easier to remember. In addition the reader can find the repetition of possessive pronouns like "me, her, I": as a matter of fact he can imagine that the poem is a dialogue between the speaking voice and her lover.
Considering the syntactical level the reader can notice that the stanzas are divided by a space: the poet invites the reader to stop and reflect about the text.
