During the last lesson the teacher explained  how to make a textual analysis. First of all she handed in our entry tests, then she began to talk.

She said that we must pay attention to word order and to stylistic choices:  they are important because they create
effects in the reader.

A very important  aspect to remember is the use of concentrated periods in our analysis.

After that the teacher started to talk about the argumentative text: an argumentative text proposes thesis, a point of view that requires the production of argumentation that support the idea of the text.

An argumentation is a thought that I create developing a logic thread; it can also be created by comparison. It follows that the better you organize the logical development of your idea, the better you can convince the reader about your point of view.

 

To this aim you have to collect intelligent data, relevant informations, significant figures and also pay utmost attention to the use of language. To do this I need suitable linkers and connectors:

The argumentation should follow into paragraphs: each paragraph should have a function which should be connected somehow to the previous or to the coming one.

Finally she explained us the difference between the verb "to say" and the verb "to tell".



We use "to
say":



a.       always in the direct speech



b.      in the reported speech when you
don't have the indirect object



c.       in idiomatic expressions (to say
hello, to say goodbye etc.)



We use "to tell":



a.       in the reported speech when you have
the indirect object



b.      in some idiomatic expressions (to
tell the truth, to tell the time etc.)
