Textuality » 4A Interacting
During the previous lesson, we spoke about one of the most important aspects in literature: textual analysis. First of all, an intelligent student should understand the message of the poem (every kind of texts have a message, even if sometimes it is hidden) and to reflect about the way this message should be write and communicated to the interlocutor. Besides, another important aspect is to know who is your interlocutor, to use the specific language (for example an high register if you are talking with a professor, a low register if you are talking with your friend). To do this, the student must understand the stylistic and syntactic choices of the poet, after a careful reading, but not only this. He must also understand the reason why the poet chooses a word rather than another. An advice to explain the poem (and in the specific the message) is to communicate the concept in the easiest way, without trying to use complex terms that create confusion in the interlocutor's mind. The conclusion of the textual analysis coincides with a thought that can explain your point of view about the situation.
