The story Eveline that belongs to Dubliners the first book of fiction by James Joyce, is an example that supports the thesis of journalist Claudia Sfilli, (in the article Un Mondo Che Abbiamo Costruito Noi from Messaggero Veneto)adolescents mimic adult behavior, even if their true nature of youngsters persecutes them. Likewise Eveline, the protagonist of the fiction, is forced to live into the adult world, and as a result she behaves like them. In fact, despite having only 19, she is forced to work hard to support her father who is old and she must think every day what is best for the family and never for herself. This oppression from the outside world pushes Eveline to take refuge within her mind feeling what the journalist Sfilli defines as a  mixture of fear and enthusiasm, exhilaration and despair, tears and laughter. Eveline, therefore, does not like the reality she is living and as a consequence, as it is written in the article, she is insecure, complexed and willing to love, love never received from her father and that she sees in Frank. Her insecurity will lead to prevail the behavior as an adult rather than as a girl: Eveline decides not to leave with Frank, her love, but to remain to help her family.
