Analogies between "Eveline" by J. Joyce and the article "Un mondo che abbiamo costruito"

Joyce describes Eveline as a character who is not able to leave her family and her home. She is young but she behaves as a grown up person; she takes care of her father, her brother and of the house.

The article by Claudia Sfilli is about how nowadays young people and especially young girls behave with adults. Either the story or the article underline the desire of young people to be listened and understood.

On the other side grown up people and, in Joyce's story, the father, pretend that young people behave as they want, denying them trust.

Both texts analyze a female figure trying to evidence what a "good girl" does or should do. As a consequence of this behavior young girls in general and Eveline in particular, are often not able to live their life and to follow their decisions.

The journalist ends her article affirming that adults should give young people a chance.
