EVELINE

The short story "Eveline" was written by James Joyce in 1914, and it is part of
the collection named "Dubliners".

The story is set in Dublin. According to Joyce Dublin is the centre of paralysis, because
people who live in Dublin are not able to change the situation. They are stuck
on tradition and slaves of convention. The setting becomes an important part of
the story.

Dublin is a little environment  where the protagonist
feels secure. Eveline is like the Dubliners because she has no courage to
change her situation and she is paralyzed.

She gives a negative connotation to the environment where she live because she doesn't like
it, but when she has the opportunity to escape she hasn't got the courage to do
it.
