In the essay the author deals about a logical sequence of events with the desire to make the reader understanding about facts of the Industrial Revolution.
First of all he says that there had been a study of economical mechanisms before the beginning of the agricultural revolution. The people who has made those studies where Smith, Malthus, Ricardo and Mills, that had made a description of how populations growth.
Secondly he has written about the growth of inhabitants of England during 18th century and his cause: the agricultural revolution, in which the common field system of cultivation was destroyed for the substitution of the enclosure system (a lot of farms enclosures in a singular big one).
After these paragraphs the author introduce the instruments which had get possible the Industrial Revolution: the spinning-jenny, Crompton's mule, the steam engine, etc.; he deals about the born of an advantage system of communication, based on canals and railways.
The evolution of industrial technologies would have a lot of economical consequences in the agriculture and industries, so the author decides to deals about the rise of prices: a lot of products is equal to an increment of rent of farms and factories.
In the end the author deals about the conflict between masters and workers, produces by the difference of these two classes; the first one was rich, so had a lot of money to spend to satisfy his thirst of power, the second one was poor and worked hard only to perceive a very low salary (those facts had been the catalyzers for the born of socialism).
In the end the author says that there had been a lot of economical wealth caused by the Industrial Revolution, but the factory's competition produced wealth without producing well-being. So there were positive and negative consequences of this historical event.
