ANALISI TESTUALE (analizzare decodificare)
What is the aim of the choice? What is the aim of the order?
Stylistics choices are important because they create effects on the reader: they are important because they tell us if the writer is happy, ecc.
An argumentative test proposes a thesis, a point of view and this idea requires for the writer the production of argumentation that support the idea of the text.
An argumentation is a though that I create with a logic thread; it can also be made by comparison or contrast.
It follows that the better you organise the logical development of your idea, the better you can convince the reader about your point of view.
To this aim you have to collect intelligent data, relevant information, significant figures and also paid utmost attention to the use of language. To do this I need suitable connectors and linkers: COMING NOW TO... ; IN ADDITION... ; WHAT'S MORE... ; BESIDES... ; DIFFERENTLY FROM... ; IN OPPOSITION TO... ; VICEVERSA... ; ON ONE HAND... ; ON THE OTHER... ; INDEED... ; TO TELL THE TRUTH... ; IN SHORT... ; SUMMING UP... ; HOWEVER... ; ANYWAY... .
The argumentation should follow or be develop into paragraphs: each paragraphs should have a function which should be connected somehow to the previous or to the coming paragraphs.
TO COMMUNICATE... TO CONVEY IDEA OF... TO HIGHLIGHT... TO UNDERLINE... TO EXPRESS... TO HINT AT... TO REFER TO... TO TELL ABOUT... TO DRAW THE READER'S ATTENTION ON... .
Uso della forma impersonale YOU/ONE + VERBO
Il verbo "dire" può essere espresso con due verbi in inglese: TO SAY-SAID-SAID; TO TELL-TOLD-TOLD (che non sono intercambiabili).
TO SAY si usa:
A. Sempre nel discorso diretto.
B. Nel discorso indiretto quando non è espresso il complement di termine.
Es. Disse che andava a casa. = He SAID he was going home.
C. In alcune espressioni idiomatiche (to say hello).
TO TELL si usa sempre:
A. Nel discorso indiretto quando è espresso il complement di termine.
Es. Mi disse che andava a casa. = He TOLD ME he was going home.
B. In alcune espressioni idiomatiche (to tell the story, to tell the truth, to tell the time).
