VIRGINIA WOOLF’S LIFE – Synthesis -

 

Virginia Woolf was born in 1882 in London, her mother Leslie Stephen was a critic, philosopher..  .

 During her childhood, Virginia Woolf educated herself in her father’s library and she started to write since she was a child .

After her father’s death she moved to Bloomsbury with her sister and her two brothers, where she founded the “Bloomsbury Group”.

Virginia Woolf was bisexual, and after got married the journalist  and essayist Leonard Woolf, she felt in love with Victoria Sackville-West, a poet. This relationship inspired Virginia Woolf and she wrote Orlando.

Her husband always supported her, both emotionally and intellectually, and in 1917 they founded the Hogarth Press.

She rebelled against what she called the “materialism” and she criticized the traditional way of writing.

She explores the possibility of moving between action and contemplation, between specific external events and delicate tracings of the flow of consciousness.

She moved among writer and artists and she came naturally into the profession of writing.

Her nervous depression was the cause of Virginia Woolf’s suicide in 1941.
