Learning Paths » 5A Interacting
Virginia Woolf thought that the whole world is a work of art, but individual artist is not important in this work because she thought that we are the words, the music and the things itself.
According to Virginia the moment of being is a moment when an individual is fully consciously of his experience, instead the moment of not being is when an individual lives and acts without awareness. These moments of being can be found in Virginia’s fiction: for examples in Mrs Dalloway, To The Lighthouse and Between Acts.
On the other hand Joyce’s epiphanies don’t reveal something important for the characters, but they provide moments of power and awareness.
Mrs Dalloway describes the two important characters in all of her fiction: Clarissa and Septimus. For instance Clarissa throughout the day is particularly aware of these treads of connections between herself and her surroundings.
The moment of being is underlines by a particular use of language and vivid because they represent an exact feeling and the language conveys something of evocative and precise. Her use of language is used to approach the poetry.
