Basing on the essay I read and on the presentations, I would say that I was surprised by Julia Kristeva’s vision of religious matters.

Considered that I was going to read a text written by an unbeliever, I expected a critical point of view towards Christianity. On the contrary, I found an objective analysis of themes that explored also possible  non-religious meanings of Christian topics. For example, as regards the essay I read, I have never thought about Virgin Mary as a psychological device used by artists to express their inner feelings. However, it is definitely an assumption based on objective proofs and logical reasoning.

In my opinion,  research and discovery of new meanings and truths behind what could appear  an unquestionable dogma,  reminds  Postmodern culture  and its assumptions that  no absolute truths exist, even in religious dogmas and canons.
