1- In the extract taken from Virginia Woolf's essay A Room of One's Own, five hundred pounds represent economic independence for a woman, while the room is the privacy a woman needs to write well.

 

2 - Virgina Woolf says that poetry and wealth are deeply connected, as it's easier for poetry to develop when there are the right social and economic conditions.


3 - Women have rarely written poetry because have always had less power and less consideration than men and " they have had less intellectual freedom than the sons of Athenian slaves": the intellectual freedom would be the central prerequisite to write poetry and it is the freedom to write what they think and to think what they want.


4 - Virginia Wools sustain that the opportunity for women will come if there would not be discriminate between men and women.
