The extract is taken from the essay Traditional and the Individual Talent. T. S. Eliot is the new poet, it represents the new way of composing poetry respect the old one. T.S. Eliot is also important for his literary criticism. It's a form of writing that discusses various areas of literature and various literary problems. The essay explains Eliot attitude to tradition and the concept of the impersonality of art, recurrent theme in the Modernism. Furthermore, Eliot wonders what makes a new work of art innovative. In his opinion the innovative poet is the one able to fare sua la tradizione . He gives his best when he shows his own language, where his cultural world can be find. Be innovative doesn't mean to copy someone else work but to absorb the previous art. Also, it is sustained that past must coexist with present in the poet's mind.
