ELIOT'S MYTICAL METHOD

Eliot sees myth and ritual (the use of antropological material) as a potential means of orderring and trasforming into significant contemporany experience. There are technical function seems to have been more important to him than their symbolical meaning. By november 1923 after the "waste lands" pubblications.Eliot is even more explicit by this problem.

the very title of this review in "the Dial" of Joice's  Ulysses makes the point. Ulysses, order and myth. He sets out to answer the challenge of readers who use by many early readers of Ulysses, so Ulysses has "an invention to chais ,an expression of feelings which are perverse, partial and a distortion of reality".

Eliot,in answers to this, calls the world classical and complains that people have under exstimated the importance of the Oddyssey parallel as structural device.

"In using myth,in manipulating a continous parallel between contempraneity and anticuity, Mr Joyce is pursing a method which others must purse after him.

It is simply a way of controlling and ordering and giving a shape and a significant to the immense panorama of futurity and anarchy which is contemporany history.

T.S Eliot's ought technique for presenting, "the immence panorama" is different from Joyce's.

By compression and allusion he condences it where Joyce expand the moment almost to infiniture, but both resort to a black-cloth of mythology.
