Line 21, thesys: what makes a writer traditional
A writer can be considered tradidional when he's conscious and aware of his position in time.
The concept of time is seen under the perspective of temporal and timeless. If you want to have tradition you have to own the historical sense.
The truly innovative artist have to take possession of his ancestors and rework their words to have an intuition and write in a creative way. For example Shakespeare adapts Petrarca's sonnet structure to English language.
