The culture is the product of temporal and timeless as TS Eliot exposes in his essay Traditional and Individual Talents.

During the middle age the people lived in community, sharing religion. Dante is the best poet in Eliot's opinion because his opera finds correspondence in person's vision of life which is only religious.

In 20th century there was disintegration of values and consequence of this culture's crash was the inner and personal crash of point of reference in people life.
Eliot tried to transmit this state of fragmentation through the language in a poem in which the structure reflects the culture situation. With dramatic monologue Eliot expressed the disintegration of values he lived.
Eliot rejected a vision in which is celebrate individual's uniqueness because is symbol of solitude while the poet underlined the necessity of community to find a sense.
