Textual analysis means to analyse the interrelationships of (UN) form and (UN) content.

Levels:
- phonological level (level of sound)
- semantical level (word choices, semantic domains, use of verbs: active/passive, aspects of verbs, tone of language)
- syntactical level (syntax: word order, punctuation)
- rhetorical level (figures of speech: metaphors, synecdoch, metonymy, hyperbole, litotes, etc.)
In the end the reader had to be able to explain how the choices made in the previous levels make up meaning.
