Reading the title you can suppose the poem is about a person who heard an astronomy's lesson.
The poem is in free verse and the poet finished the lines with a comma. This means that the poet wants we stop to reflect about them. The lines have also different length because their subjects change.
Reading then the poem you can understand is about a person who heard an astronomy's lecture.
This person talks using the past. This means he's remembering these facts.
Then he saw figures and diagrams and heard the astronomer when he lectured with much applause in the lecture room. He didn't applaud and he began to wander because he became tired and didn't take part to that enthusiasm. In the end, at night, he went out to look in silence the stars.
The poet uses perception verbs, such as to hear and to see, and this means that the character isn't involved in the action.
In addiction the poet changes the person to break off the rhythm. He also uses words that produce the lament sounds, such as:mystical moist.
In my opinion with the last lines the poet compare the different way of two people to perceive the same thing.
