The poem is written by William Wordsworth. The title suggests that it si about a girl who lives in hidden places. The word “dwelt” reveals us a language linked to the author’s time. The poem can be divided in two parts;the first one is the shortest and gives us some informations about the lady and the landscape, while the second one has an explenatory function, and conteins the girl’s qualities.

Maybe the poet describing the place which is near to the Dove wants to reinforce the fact that not many people knew her because of the difficulties of reaching the area.

Using the expression “very few loved her” the poet wnts to underline the solitary nature of the lady.

The metaphor of the violet is used to reveal the girl’s uniqueness and the difficulty to recognize her.

The author rapresents the beauty and the importance of the girl using the simile between her and the unique star which is shining in the star.

At the end of the composition it is used a verb of perception like “cease to be” to underline the death of the girl and how the poet losts without her presence.

Probably Wordsworth’s massage is that sometimes people do not find the beauty of somone because it is too difficult to reach it.
