The Renaissance in England (The Elizabethan Age) 1485-1625
  • 1485 --> Henry VII, the first Tudor king: defeated Richard II in the Wars of the Roses.
  • 1509-1547 --> reign of Henry VIII. He married six girls: Catherine of Aragon (they had a child, Mary), Anne Boleyn (they had a child, Elisabeth I), Jane Seymour (she gave him an heir, Edward VI), Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr.
  • 1547-1553 --> reign of Edward VI.
  • 1553-1558 --> reign of Mary I, called "Bloody Mary". She suppressed a lot of Protestants.
  • 1558-1603 --> reign of Elizabeth I. She had no heirs.
  • 1588 --> Defeat of the Spanish Armada sent by the Spain's King Phillip II: there was the rise of the great English navy.
  • 1603-1625 --> reign of James I (James VI of Scotland) son of Mary, Queen of Scots.
