The Manifesto of Aestheticism developed in the 19th Century in England, it was a criticism of the accepted value of Victorian Age, and it had to entertain and to teach, it rejected progress which would bring well-being. Through the Beauty of the Aestheticism movement, it implies those moments we perceive through our senses.
The Manifesto is written in order to explain why traditional standards of art are  no longer considered valid. Therefore the preface embodies the aesthetic principle. The Epigrammatic structure is made of short statements suitable to stick in the reader's memory, it displays a contradictory nature, ( an apparent one), and the manifestocome to s climax in the last statement.
The concept of beauty is central in the idea of art ( it is the key word in the romantic poetry of the second generation) the artist are considered creators.

The task of the artist is to reveal art, not the artist . Art is conceived through many different impressions, the reader is put in the centre of attention.
During the Victorian Age there was a rigid and strict behaviour, in which it was easy to find judgments about different things, because it was the standard of that period, people judge experiences , this shows how the nature of the period was contradictory. "those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault" : those implies distance by the writer, it reveals the different point of view of the artist, while this implies the writer agrees with the statement. To be charming is a quality, it's a consequence of Beauty, it brings the reader in another dimension. It implies a double nature: the bifocal Manichean principle : the monster and the human being : Dottor Jeckyl and Mr Hyde, and the beautiful and the ugly in The Picture of Dorian Grey.
In the Romantic Manifesto the ultimate goal in the pleasure, even in the Aesthetic Manifesto is the same  Aestheticism is the motto to develop in the 19th century. Manifesto is a form of literary where the poet, the artist, the writer brings his idea to the surface in order to express his point of view on his art. Oscar Wilde makes some statements in which he expresses his point of view, rejecting the idea that artists desire to prove anything, to artist has ethical sympathies , and no artist is ever morbid.
There are two ways of perceiving and writing: artists don't recognise the Romantic aspect in their creations, and they don't want to see the fugacity of reality perceived by senses. The language used is perfect because the artist renders it perfect.
In the Romantic period was important the music, because it language and thought are put together. Even in the Manifesto, Oscar Wilde expresses the idea of going through the time. In conclusion the aim of art is that it has to teach and to entertain.
