Jeanette Winterson, the writer of the book, wants to express her thought about how ito nteract with art works.

Everyone proposes different considerations and interpretations of an artwork; a reader, first of all, should consider the title of the text to have some ideas about its possible content.

People try to find something that sintrigues them in an art or a text and this  is possible only  if the person is ready to dig into the artwork.

Something can drwa one's attention if it is not easy to understand, so people try to discover its hidden aspects.

 Discovery is possible with some efforts. A  person should reflect and use their mind so that he or she manages to catch the objective of an artist.

Art helps change our view of reality, it sometimes offer new 'persprctives on our surrounding world. That is why  dictators persecuted  artists: music, arts and literature all the same are not stable and so artists  are not easy to control.
