The letter by Trichet and Draghi

-STRUCTURE-

The letter written by Trichet and Draghi was published on the 29th of September 2011 in a newspaper.

Right from the start, the reader notices that it is addressed to the Italian Prime Minister.

It is organised into several paragraphs.

First, the senders propose the argumentation they will develop: the first paragraph consists of an introductory paragraph and goes straight to the point (the Governing Council…confidence of inventors).

The second one reports a quotation and uses it in order to propose a thesis about the Governing Council of Italy (the Euro area…structural reforms).

The third paragraph gives a consideration about the behaviour of the Italian Government (the Italian Government…sufficient).

The fourth paragraph is made up of a list of “measures” considered essential by the writers. It consists of three main points, the first and the second one including three more points(a, b, c). (At the current juncture…strengthened).

The letter ends with a statement in which Trichet and Draghi shows their trust in the Italian Government (last two lines).

Last, they both sign the letter.
