The poem Passa la nave mia colma d’oblio consist of an octave e an sestet:  the typical structure of the  Italian sonnet.

The first octave tells about a difficult travelling in tormented  seas and creates a comparison between the speaker's voice and the ship. The speaker is so sad, he sighs but he hopes.

In the sestet, the weather condition puts the speaker’s voyager at risk but in the end  he hides his feeling and he seems able to use reason and art to try and find the harbour.

The speaking voce is the poet's  because he used possessive adjectives and verbs in the  first perso.

In the poem there is the analogy between the poet's life and a voyage. The concept is expressed  by two different semanticsfields: traveling by sea and life; and by the personification of the speaking voice's words :nave colma d’oblio, aspro mare, a ciascun remo un pensier, pioggia di lagrimar, nebbia di sdegni.

L’nemico mio is the person  governing speaker’s ship, this is a way to underline the speking voice's  problems due to his unreturned love feelings he cannot dominate: in a few words he is living an inner conflict.

The poet’s mood is underlined by the nature of weather conditions that apper in his lexical choices:  aspro mar, il verno;. In addition to his reference to Silla e Caribdi the two monsters of classical mythology.
