MEN ARE

by The Joeys

Men are, men are, men are.

men are strong

men are tough

men are surly, men are rough

men have mates

men drink beer

men are brave and don't show fear

Analysis of the poem

The title of the poem "Men are" creates some expectations in the reader's mind. He thinks the poem talks about men' s qualities or customs.

It is a short poem and it has a lot of repetitions of the word "men". This word is usually used because the main topic in this poem are men and it is underlined in every line. There are a lot of adjectives and every one describes one of men' s qualities.

In the first line there aren't adjectives. It is an introduction of men' s adjectives. Every sentence has the subject "men", the verb "are" and an adjective, but in two lines there are different verbs and adjectives.

This poem wants to describe to the reader men' s qualities and men' s habitual actions. It says positive and negative aspects. There are a lot of rhymes.
