MEN ARE, by The Joeys
The text "Man are" is a poem taken from a song and written by The Joeys. The reader's expectation is to read something about men and their quality, defects and ways of behaving.
The poem is composed on one stanza made up of seven lines. The length of the lines change from row to row.
In the poem there is the constant repetition of the same word "man" that highlights the subject of the whole poem. The adjectives used in this poem are strong and full of meaning and they creates an atmosphere of authority. They give evidence of men's masculinity and the text conveys the idea of rude men, not sensible.
The stanza talk about men and how they are. The first two adjectives attribute a great sense of importance and manliness to men instead the next two attribute some defects that are typical of men. The poem ends noting once again the courage of men.
The poem would seem like a description of features that men really have or everyone expect them to have. But, if you read the whole text you realize that all those adjectives are only stereotypes. It is not the truth.

The poem contrasts positive aspects with negative aspects. It is great because the performance of the text is fluid and musical and the words used are significant and they have a strong emotional impact.
