CLASS TEST PRACTISE 2

Population growth depends on place and time, that's to say that different countries haven't got the same number of population in the same period.

During the Industrial Revolution there is a growth of population and a lot of people move from land to town in order to find a job. As Toynbee said the population's growth changed from 3 per cent in 1751 to 18 per cent between 1811 and 1821. This caused a decline of the agrarian population from 35 per cent to 28 per cent during 1811 and 1831. That's to say that people had to move from farms to towns in order to find a job, because factories in town were almost the only places where people could find a job.

In modern times we have a growth of population especially in poor countries. In 1984 population grew more in Africa and parts of southern Asia than everywhere. Today the world's population is increasing by 250 000 people every day. Even nowadays the first  population will grow by 56 million and the second will expand to over 900 Million. The biggest increase occurs in the poorest countries because local people have to survive. Often a child more makes the difference between survival and destitution. Poor families think that a great number of children will help them to earn money or help somehow the family.

In the future the population will grow more than nowadays. And this will happen maybe more in the poor countries. This means that there will be less food for everyone and more people will risk starving. This is certainly the most important problem we have to face in relation with increasing of population.
