Just reading the title the reader expects the sonnet dials with the problems of love.

The sonnet exalts the conception of love only for love because it’s eternal, in opposition to the love for esthetical features that changes and are subjects to the passing of time. In the first quatrain the speaking voice explained that with a dialogue with her partner, who has similar ideas of love. He also said that he can change his conceptions, only for his love. In the third quatrain the speaking voice returns the woman affirming that love for pity isn’t real love, because if the woman stops to cry, the love will be lost.

She used long vowel sounds as “thou, love, for, nought” to create a sense of vastness and eternity, linked to love’s features in this sonnet.
