The first chapter of the book is called Genesis because it is about the origins of Jeanette like Genesis in the Hebrew Bible in which it is narrated the origin of world. The chapter is also about the setting of the all story. Jeanette was adopted by an evangelists' family: her mother is obsessed by religion and she thought that she must spread God Word in all the world and she fights for this ideals; her father function is only to earn money. The little story narrated in the first chapter underlines the mentality of the mother: there was a princess very sensible and she was so sensible she ruined the kingdom; one day she met an hunchback who sayd her to help people of a village to take off his sensibility. As the princess mission was to help people, Jeanette's mother mission was to spread God Word.
The second chapter is called Exodus: Jeanette has to go to school because if she doesn't go to her mother will go to jail. In the Exodus of the Hebrew Bible Israel's people escape from Egypt because of slavery. In the school Jeanette is confined because she is different from other students. They are feared by her because of her difference and stories about hell.
