The author to characterize the female character firstly chose a male name, Robyn , because reminds to Robin Hood than chose the surname Penrose because it reminds to the world of literature. Also he describe her occupation and write that she is a temporary Lecturer in English literature to explain the precary of her job. In conclusion the author doesn't do any physical description and Robyn ‘s characterization becomes a pretext to expand postmodernism idea, to discuss the role of the novel and the connection between publishing and the novel.
