Analysis on She Dwelt Among The Untrodden Ways

In this text I am going to illustrate my analysis on She Dwelt Among The Untrodden Ways.

Considering the title, I think the poem is going to tell about an important female for the poet, who lives in a remote place. The text is organized into 3 quatrains and uses the alternate rhyme. The rythm is slow and the sound of the words is nostalgic and sad.

In the first stanza the poet says that she lives beside the springs of Dove, in Scotland and she is a Maid. In the second stanza he compares her to a violet by a mossy stone and fair as a star, when only one is shining in the sky. Finally in the third stanza adds that only few could know her and now, she is dead and for him it makes difference.

The meaning of the poem is given by the metaphors in the second stanza. Through them we understand that this girl is unique, he appreciated her, she is modest, difficult to find. But only when we have lost a person we understand how much was important.
