 My Heart Leaps Up

In the present argumentation I will advance a personal interpretation about William Wordsworth poem: My Heart Leaps Up.                 In order to provide an exhaustive analysis, I would like to explains why the poet has chosen this title.

Before starting to analysing the poem, I want to take into consideration the layout. It is rather unusual because some lines are not aligned with the others. In my opinion this choice is justified by underlining  the importance of some lines than other.                        First of all, the intelligent reader can notice that the first line of the poem includes a part of the title.

At first sight, the reader can note the presence of an anaphora between the second and fourth line, that consists of the repetition of the term “so”, underlines the growth of the character with the idea of the rainbow in his mind.                                                                 On the seventh line the intelligent reader can consider the paradox that affirms “The child is father of the man”. Probably the poet want to support the idea that children do not have prejudices because of real view of the world in opposition to the adult’s point of view.       In my view the term rainbow at second line represents the key word of the poem because besides to hide lots of meanings like life and hopeless, it represents the start of the life and the and of it. In addition, rainbow is an image that involves harmony, that is essential in life.

Taking into consideration all above, I believe this poem want to highlight the importance of prejudices that conditioned people’ point of view and the necessity of harmony in life.
