Friulians and Celts

Friuli was occupied by the Celts and we have many testimonies of this, especially in the mountain area because in the plains due to the following invasions many remains have been lost. The Celts settled in 183 BC. and they reached as far as Aquileia, where the Romans intervened. The Celtic word "Kurm" or "Curm" indicated a marshy region, which most likely corresponds to the area of the "Bassa", an area rich in resurgences, and the "Cormor" (river) takes its name from here.
