BRITISH IMPERIAL TRADING ROUTES
The great success of Great Britain in the century was mainly devoted to its total domination of the seas. For example in the Gulf of Guinea or the route to the Cape of Good Hope. From there many ships sailed up into the Indian Ocean. Other important places for its commerce were Malaysia, Hong Kong which opened the way to China, and the same did the annexation of the Falkland Islands.
Then Great Britain focused on the Mediterranean with the opening of the Suez Canal. But fundamental were also the acquisition of Cyprus, Egypt and the British Somalia.
Another example of the influenced devoted to Great Britain is surely the adoption of Greenwich Mean Time.
In conclusion, the migration to the colonies of the several British and Christian missionaries contributed to develop British customs and traditions.
