Pamela writes to her mother: she tells her about the new situation with Mr. B.

Pamela describes him for his behaviour and for her feelings when she is near him. She is fear about him, because she considers him as her master: indeed she is the man’s servant. So she considers improper to stay in his presence unless there is some business required to him.

On the contrary the man insists to keep girl near him and to do something more his sister (the sister wants to have Pamela as her servant).

It is important to notice the two different register: a formal register and an informal one.

So it is a asymmetric relationship, because there is a contrast between the man’s and Pamela’s behaviour.

Moreover the narrator’s choice of first person narrator is important because the reader comes into direct contact with character’s thought, convictions, not only with their behaviours. So the reader can understand the real Pamela’s thoughts: even if she is afraid of her master, she feels something for him.It is also interesting to notice the language used by the narrator: it is a body language, so there is another kind of relationship, that cannot tolerant distance.
