Ricordiamoci dell’11 settembre
Giuseppe Conte
Giuseppe Conte’s poem underlines the WTC’s attack under a macabre atmosphere as some poets in the aftermath of 9/11. Conte uses a scabrous semantic field to convey the idea of sadness.
So, “sangue”, “mortale”and “fumo d’odio” suggest the image of “inferi”. The alliterative sound of “s” and “f” create in reader’s mind a picture of situation. Indeed, the anaphoric repetition of the title at lines 1 and 11 shows the intention of remembering the East-West conflict’s development.
With the anaphoric repetition the poet introduces the antithesis of “inferi”: “Dio”. He invokes people to pray for victims. Conte’s message refers to each religion without prejudices.
The absurdity of religious causes which produced with its justifications the disaster is the important topic of second sequence. “Che non sia mai un Dio assasino” underlines the absurdity of people who believe to dominate the other (also in religious field) with violence.
