Identify from the text:

a) The definition of utility

b) The principles on which it is based

c) The way in which utility can affect politics

 

Answers

a) Utility is the property of any object to produce pleasure (benefit, advantage, good or happiness) or to prevent the appening of pain (mischief, evil, unhappiness) to the group or the individual to whom it is referred.

b) Any action must tend towards increasing and not decreasing happiness of the community considered.

c) The same principle, of increasing and not decreasing happiness of the community, must be followed by a government based on utility.
