Exercise 3

1 Britain becomes an industrial country.

2 The change was caused by the increase of population, and so of the demand of clothes, that make the production to develop.

3 The Industrial Revolution implied new inventions, the development of factory system and of transports.

4 The most important inventions regarded clothes-making and were the “spinning jenny” and the “water frame”.

5 Firstly the machines worked by the use of water’s power; then we witness the spread of the use of stream power. This happened also because of the James Watt’s engine.

6 New factories were built and them made the production of clothes less expensive but also made a lot of people losing their jobs.

7 During the Industrial revolution transport was made more efficient; for this reason the Industrial Revolution can be considered successful.

8 In agriculture there were great changes; because of this changes in technology the Agrarian Revolution can be associated to the Industrial one.

9 The Agrarian Revolution took two principal forms: the widespread enclosure of “open fields” and the improvements of selecting breeding of cattle.

Exercise 5

1 The Industrial Revolution and the Agrarian one in England were characterized by new technologies and new inventions.

2 The Industrial Revolution implied new inventions.

3 The Industrial Revolution implied new sources of power.

4 Stream engine was patented by James Watt in 1775 and brought the construction of new factories.

5 The new factories created after Watt’s invention allowed Britain to manufacture clothes cheaply.

6 New waterways were built to improve products and goods’ transports.

7 The widespread enclosure of “open fields” permit to make larger and more efficient farms.

8 Both the British revolutions brought to the country improvements that made the country’s economical situation get better.
