THE AMERICAN WAR OF INDIPENDENCE

1760: George III came to the throne of england,which was a powerfull and settled empire.

-America was a Britain's colony.
-Britain imposed new taxes to the american colonies because the UK needed money to finance it's policy of safeguard.
-the American started a rebellion whose motto was "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION".
As a result,the Americans were divided into : PATRIOTS AND LOYALISTS

4th July 1776 -> DECLARATION OF INDIPENDENCE BY THOMAS JEFFERSON
-> colonies were a new nation
-> all men had a national right to "life,liberty and the pursuit of happiness"
-> the consent of the governed was necessary to claim the right to rule for governments

TREATY OF VERSAILLES: The UK recognized the United States of America
-> FEDERAL CONSTITUTION
-> GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS THE FIRST PRESIDENT
