The industrial revolution – horrible condition. In this musical the concept of Victorian age’s society is a bit ridiculed. Maybe, the director chose this type of communication (the “happy” song we are talking about, irony and exaggeration) to alleviate the critique of society, bad conditions of children, education, etc. The song goes on with a cheerful rhythm, in contrast with the bad condition of children and the dark atmosphere of the industry. The antithetical process upsets and attracts the spectator, creating interest and audience, and first of all, instilling a message into the spectator mind: the complaint of the problems that afflict the society, and the will of an improvement.
