The Dove
… and here is
old Picasso and the dove
and dreams as fragile
as pottery with dove
in white on clay
dark brown as
earth is brown
from our old
battleground …
Textual analisys:
In this poem an old picture by Picasso is exploited to carry out a poetical message. It speaks about a dove, a white bird and the poet compares the dove with dreams and he says that they are so fragile and delicate in comparison with the old dark brown battleground.
In this peom there is only one stanza and it has nine lines.
Dove rhymes with dove (the second and the fourth line) and brown rhymes with battleground ( the seventh and the nineth line), so the first rhyme reports the same word but in the second rhyme the same vowel sound is reported . The rhyme scheme is ABCBDEFGF.
The meaning and the syntax of every line continues without a pause into the nexts lines, so in this poem there are a run-on-lines.
